Understanding Target Market Determination (TMD)
To comply with a new law under the Treasury Laws Amendment (Design and Distribution Obligations and Product Intervention Powers) Act 2019, we have made available Target Market Determination (TMD) documents that describe the type of customer one of our products may suit. This includes specific conditions on how the product can be distributed to our customers.
What is a Target Market Determination (TMD)?
A TMD is a document that describes:
- the persons for which the products have been designed,
- the conditions around the product’s distribution,
- when this TMD will be reviewed, and
- record keeping and reporting obligations of distributors.
